Michael Lee - Strategy & Creative, Partner

Michael hails from the Arizona desert. Everything about him is dry. His humor, his whisky even his choice of dog chow. But his work as a strategic planner and copywriter exhibits a lush sweetness fitting of any island habitat.

Michael began his career in the states, honing his craft at BBDO in Chicago and Los Angeles on a wide variety of blue chip clients in healthcare, consumer electronics, packaged goods and financial planning. He was then recruited to Nordstrom in Seattle to help construct their new branding platform. To this day he holds fond memories of playing scrabble on corporate jets with the Nordstrom brothers. In 2000, he landed in Copenhagen (his reasons for being in Europe are still under investigation) where he met John Schoolcraft and Joakim Hedvall at DDB. While there, he confounded the system by traveling freely between strategy and creative work for notable clients like Sony Nordic and Carlsberg International. But his two future island compatriots were most impressed with the idiot-savant spewings they’d get from his mouth — anything from the strategic triggers to a global ad campaign to an awkwardly expressed love for YooHoo chocolate soda to some things even more frightening.

Rumor has it that he’s writing a tell-all on how absurdly crazy this business can be — we hope to provide him with lots of material.
